Introduction
ThieAudio has unveiled the ThieAudio Origin, a flagship in-ear monitor (IEM) priced at ₹81,990 in India. This innovative model features a 1 dynamic driver (DD), 2 electrostatic (EST) drivers, 4 balanced armature (BA) drivers, and 1 bone conduction (BC) driver. The driver configuration alone promises an exciting audio experience, particularly with the inclusion of 2 ESTs and a BC driver.
Having reviewed the TSMR Shock (also equipped with a bone conduction driver), I was curious about how the Origin would differentiate itself, especially given its price proximity to ThieAudio's iconic Monarch MKII and MKIII. Let’s dive deeper to explore how the Origin performs and what sets it apart.
Design and Build Quality
ThieAudio is renowned for crafting stunning IEMs, and the Origin is no exception. Its hand-painted starry night faceplate is a true work of art. The inner shell, made from premium resin, exudes durability and elegance.
The Origin comes equipped with the EliteNoir cable, constructed from high-grade silver-plated copper. Despite its slightly thicker build, the cable is flexible and feels luxurious. The modular audio jack further enhances its versatility.
Accompanying the IEMs is a suede leather circular carrying case. While beautifully designed, the case feels cramped for the Origin and its EliteNoir cable. A larger, rectangular zipper case, as provided with other ThieAudio IEMs, would have been a more practical choice.
Comfort and Fit
Despite its larger shell size, the Origin offers a snug fit and excellent seal. While I typically find large IEM shells uncomfortable during extended sessions, the Origin surprised me with its secure fit and lack of discomfort.
The included silicone eartips (I used the medium size) provide superb comfort and isolation. For those seeking a different feel, the package also includes memory foam eartips.
Sound Quality
For this review, I paired the ThieAudio Origin with its stock 4.4mm cable, silicone eartips, and the HiBy R8 II digital audio player. Following a 20-hour burn-in process (yes, I believe in burn-in!), I was treated to an extraordinary auditory experience.
The Origin delivers a rich, grand, and immersive sound, featuring lifelike bass, lush mids, and smooth, detailed treble. The wide, holographic soundstage is akin to a personal home theater, encapsulated in a portable IEM shell.
Bass
The bass performance is undoubtedly the highlight of the Origin. It’s akin to having a personal subwoofer integrated into the shells. The bass is clean, textured, and detailed, with no bleeding into the mids or treble. Its thick body and reverberation are perfectly balanced, delivering a mesmerizing listening experience.
ThieAudio has expertly combined the dynamic driver and bone conduction driver, creating a bass performance that defies simple description—you truly have to hear it to believe it.
Midrange
The mids are warm, lush, and slightly recessed compared to the bass. Vocals, both male and female, sound natural and captivating. The midrange’s placement within the soundstage creates an auditorium-like experience, where every element surrounds you seamlessly.
Despite its richness, the upper mids avoid harshness or sibilance, maintaining a musical and smooth tonality across all frequencies.
Treble
The treble is where the 2 EST drivers shine, delivering detailed, smooth, and musical highs. Even in complex tracks, the treble remains clean and untangled, allowing for the detection of minute details. Its tonality is natural and effortless, making the highs an absolute delight.
Soundstage & Imaging
The Origin boasts a wide soundstage with a holographic presence, complemented by pinpoint imaging. The layering and separation are outstanding, making every instrument and vocal distinct and lifelike.
Value and Competition
During my listening sessions, I couldn’t help but compare the Origin with the Symphonium Titan, known for its bass-heavy performance. While both IEMs have different driver configurations, they share some striking qualities.
ThieAudio Origin vs. Symphonium Titan
Feature | ThieAudio Origin | Symphonium Titan |
---|---|---|
Driver Config. | 1DD + 2EST + 4BA + 1BC | 1DD + 3BA |
Shell Size | Larger | Smaller |
Driving Power | Easy to drive | Hard to drive |
Bass | Textured, immersive | Powerful, physical |
Treble | Detailed, sparkly | Smooth, slightly darker |

Both IEMs excel in their own ways, making it challenging to pick a clear winner. Your choice may boil down to bass preferences, treble character, and driving requirements.

Conclusion
The ThieAudio Origin is a masterpiece, ideal for audiophiles seeking immersive bass, warm midrange, and smooth, detailed treble. Its wide soundstage, premium cable, and stunning design further enhance its appeal.
Even if you own the Monarch MKII or MKIII, the Origin’s lifelike bass and ThieAudio’s signature house sound make it a worthy addition to your collection.
The Origin transcends mere technicality—it’s an emotional and musical experience. ThieAudio has proven once again that they understand how to balance exotic driver configurations with practical, high-fidelity performance.
