HiBy OS updated to Android 9
HiBy OS is HiBy’s in-house developed rebuild of the Android system architecture, optimized for bit-perfect audio, unlike stock Android. Now updated to Android 9, supports the R6 in all desired audio I/O roles such as USB audio in / out, Bluetooth audio in / out simultaneously for unlimited flexibility.
Systemwide Direct Transport Audio Architecture
Bypasses Android's sample rate conversions at the system level for bit-perfect audio output.
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) rendering to 16x
HiBy R6 includes MQA technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording. MQA’ or ‘MQA Studio’ indicates that the product is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and denotes provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source material. ‘MQA Studio’ indicates it is playing an MQA Studio file, which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has been verified by the copyright owner.
Install the HiByMusic app on your Android or iOS smartphone and you can control the R6 from afar using WiFi or Bluetooth, for browsing, playing, skipping tracks, adjusting volume, etc.
MSEB Systemwide MSEB tuning
The MageSound Eight-Ball (MSEB) is HiBy's in-house researched sound tuning algorithm for adjusting desired audio qualities such as warmth, note thickness, vocal positioning, etc. directly instead of splitting the audio up into numbered frequencies. On the R6 it is available as a systemwide module for effecting all audio played on the device.*
*other than MQA, which MQA prohibits from modifying.
Hi-res Bluetooth codecs
Sporting Bluetooth 5.0, the HiBy R6 supports Bluetooth audio in both input and output directions, with advanced codecs such as UAT, LDAC, aptX, aptX HD, AAC, SBC, etc.
Strong 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals for fast, stable connection online to get your favourite music.
Supports DLNA and AirPlay* remote playback and music file transfer via WiFi.
* Install a third-party Airplay receiver app that can receive Airplay from iDevices.
Playtime for all time
Up to 8.5 hours (balanced ) or 10 hours (SE) continuous play time. Up to 25 days standby time.
USB3.1 / Type-C
Faster data transfer, QC3.0 fast charging, supports coaxial digital output.
Hardware used to listen to it are: I
IEMs - FIIO FH1s, BLON BL03, THIEAUDIO LEGACY 2, MEZE RAI SOLO
HEADPHONE - AKG K371BT
SPEAKERS - BOSE SOUNDLINK 3, EDIFIER S3000Pro
Nice detail retrieval
Best enjoyed through the balanced 4.4mm port
Good MSEB options and systemwide EQ setup
Google play store
Wifi 5MHz and Bluetooth 5.0 is a bless and range is also better
Nice HiByMusic app with remote functionality
Gain function… and the list goes on and on
A bit buggy software and sometimes the device restarts itself
Battery life could have been better (less then 10hrs)
Supplied screen protectors are of poor quality and finger print magnets
Additional leather case is not worth 3500/- as it’s difficult to control the volume knob once u put on the case and also the screen protector seems to be getting on the way of the case sides
Ive been wondering for a long time as to why we need a DAP. Especially with many android phones allowing us to bypass SRC and allow DTA aka LG and Samsung phones (Using UHQ)......
I was using external portable DACs with both Android and iOS. iOS is straightforward.....no source resampling like Android does....
All this until i realized why i need a DAP like R6....
1. Even Android phones (Probably ezcept LG) upscale the music and so lose quality due to twice sampling....once by android and once by the phone
2. Saves running around with a dongle hanging oot of your USB port. Not veey comfortable isnt it ?
3. R6 offers all the comforts of an Android phone....installing any and all apps from playstore....I'm kind of hooked to apple music ever since they introduced hi-res lossless ....
4. Nice feature rich DAP.
Running android 9 , and a super-fast UI , the R 6 2000 , it generates a sound, which is suited to every user through two equalizers one , traditional user defined type and the other its patented one, the notes are crisp, clear , and clean. As for the streaming experience where it tops the FiiO M11, is that this plays apple music . A sure recommend
OK...is hiby R6 the end game DAP? No..there is no such thing as an end game audio device and we all know that :) but R6 comes very close.
Do you need any other DAP, portable DAC, amp etc after buying the R6, NO. This does everything I throw at it. It can handle all iems I have tested so far including the tin p2 which requires a ton of power. R6 drives the hifiman Sundara and also the HD650 via balanced!!
I started selling my portable dacs after buying the R6 as I don't need them anymore. I only use the headamp pico now along with R6 to drive power hungry HPs as I don't want the battery on R6 running out.
Now coming to sound quality, by default it's tuned to be more detailed, punchy bass and crisp treble. So a bit colder but this is because R6 has an amazing settings app called the MSEB which you can increase warmth, bass, etc..I can't stress enough how useful this is :) I can make almost any iem and headpone the way I like it to. Trust me, you will get addicted to this.
Battery life is amazing, looks pretty, sounds great, drives all iems and HPs, enough said. Just buy it and you won't be disappointed l.
