Add Deep, Powerful Bass to Your Music, Movies and Games
If your existing speakers sound good but lack the deep low-end impact you want, the Edifier T5s powered active subwoofer is designed to fill that gap. With an 8-inch (220mm) front-firing long-throw woofer and 70W RMS of output power, the T5s adds deeper, more powerful bass to your audio system without taking up excessive floor space.
It reaches down to 35Hz, allowing you to hear and feel the lower frequencies that conventional bookshelf and desktop speakers often struggle to reproduce. Whether you're listening to bass-heavy music, watching movies, or gaming, the T5s delivers a fuller and more immersive low-frequency experience.
How Much Bass Does the Edifier T5s Produce?
The T5s features an 8-inch long-throw woofer designed specifically for powerful low-frequency reproduction. Its 35Hz–115Hz frequency response focuses on the bass range, adding depth and weight while allowing your main speakers to handle the midrange and treble.
The result is bass that can add impact to:
- 🎵 Music and bass-heavy tracks
- 🎬 Movies and TV shows
- 🎮 Games and cinematic soundtracks
- 🎸 Electronic, rock and other bass-driven genres
With 70W RMS total output, the T5s has enough power to deliver room-filling low frequencies while maintaining consistent performance.
70W RMS Power with Class-D Amplification
At the heart of the Edifier T5s is a high-performance closed-loop Class-D amplifier paired with a high-efficiency switching power supply.
The amplifier is designed to deliver 70W RMS of continuous output, giving the 8-inch woofer the power it needs to produce deep and controlled bass.
The high-performance front-end design and digital amplification system also help maintain accurate signal processing and consistent bass performance.
Precision Bass Control with DSP
Getting the right amount of bass depends on your speakers, room and personal listening preference. That's why the T5s provides dedicated controls for adjusting the subwoofer to your system.
You can adjust:
- Volume — Set the overall bass level to match your main speakers.
- Low-Pass Filter — Control the upper frequency range reproduced by the subwoofer.
- Phase — Adjust phase alignment between the subwoofer and main speakers for smoother bass integration.
The built-in digital signal processing (DSP) helps with precise low-pass filtering and phase alignment, allowing the T5s to blend more naturally with your existing speaker system.
Clean, Tight Bass with an 18mm MDF Cabinet
Powerful bass doesn't have to mean boomy or uncontrolled bass.
The Edifier T5s uses a robust 18mm medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosure designed to reduce unwanted cabinet resonance and distortion. This helps the woofer deliver a tighter and cleaner bass response.
The cabinet is finished with a wood-grain vinyl exterior and low-profile grille, giving the subwoofer a clean appearance that fits naturally into home audio, desktop and entertainment setups.
Will the Edifier T5s Work with My Speakers?
The T5s is designed for broad compatibility with speaker systems and audio setups that provide suitable RCA connections.
It includes both Signal In and Signal Out connections, allowing you to integrate the subwoofer in different ways depending on your existing system.
Method 1 — Using a Dedicated Subwoofer Output
If your main speaker system has a dedicated subwoofer output, connect that output to the Signal In ports on the T5s.
Your main speaker system can remain connected directly to your audio source.
Compatible Edifier speaker models include:
- Edifier R1280Ts
- Edifier R1280DBs
- Edifier R1700BTs
- Edifier R1850DB
- Edifier R1855DB
- Edifier R2750DB
- Edifier R2850DB
- Edifier S880DB MKII
- Edifier D12
- Edifier QR65
Method 2 — Using Signal Out Pass-Through
If your speaker system doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer output, the T5s can also be integrated using its Signal In and Signal Out connections.
Connect your audio source to the T5s Signal In, then connect the T5s Signal Out to the input of your main speaker system.
This makes the T5s a flexible addition to systems that don't have a dedicated subwoofer connection.
Important: Check the input/output connections of your existing speakers or audio source before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
Does the Edifier T5s Stay On All the Time?
No. The T5s features an automatic standby function designed to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
When no audio signal is detected for approximately 15 minutes, the subwoofer automatically enters standby mode. When audio playback resumes, it automatically wakes up and continues operation.
This makes the T5s convenient for everyday use without requiring you to manually switch it on and off every time.
Is the Edifier T5s Compact Enough for Smaller Spaces?
Despite having an 8-inch woofer, the T5s uses a slim vertical cabinet measuring just 170mm in depth.
Its dimensions are:
399mm (W) × 400mm (H) × 170mm (D)
The vertical design makes it easier to position beside a desk, TV cabinet, bookshelf or home entertainment setup, including spaces where a conventional deep subwoofer may be difficult to accommodate.
At 10.38kg, the solid MDF construction also provides a stable enclosure for the powerful 8-inch driver.
